 | Friday, July 6th, 2012: Zapata Blanks Victoria Ricardo Zapata effectively shut down the Grizzlies today, blanking them 2-0 on 5 hits, ringing up 6 strikeouts and allowing no walks. The Criollos pitcher appeared to get stronger as the game went on. "I don't know if I was getting any stronger," Zapata said after the game, "I feel like my mechanics were getting better. I was able to make some adjustments and get a little more comfortable out there." The Grizzlies skipper said, "We had some opportunities, but weren't able to execute. We just didn't swing the bats very well today." Season-to-date Zapata has rung up 7 wins and 7 losses in 16 appearances. He has an ERA of 3.73 and has fanned 92 batters in 120.2 innings. |
