 | Thursday, April 4th, 2013: Gómez 5-5 Against Anchorage Today the Frigates downed the Mariners 14-10, but Roberto Gómez did his best to avoid it as he lashed hits all over Mariners Ballpark in a 5-hit explosion, finishing up with 5 hits in 5 at-bats. "I don't remember a better day batting, but it sure is disappointing to lose the game," the Lisbon catcher said to SION reporters in the postgame interview. "A win would have made the day much sweeter." Asked if he had a hitting philosophy, Gómez said, "It makes it easier if you get a good pitch. The odds are in your favor then, not the pitcher's. I got a bunch of good pitches to hit today, and I didn't miss any of them." R. Gómez singled in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off R. Miller in the 8th. |
