 | Thursday, June 12th, 2014: Gil Hits for the Cycle Felipe Gil produced one of the rarest feats in baseball today when he hit for the cycle against the Pacific Grove Paladins in the Kalookan 12-1 win at Milkfish Stadium. Afterward, Gil acknowledged that his accomplishment was special, but he was more interested in helping the Milkfish just win some ballgames. At the postgame press conference, he said, "Maybe one day I'll look back on this day with more meaning, but right now I just want to come out tomorrow and put some good swings on the ball, get a few hits and help my club win another game." On his historic day, he went 4-5 with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored -- and also got a spot in the league record books. Maybe one day way down the road he will get out the record book and reminisce about his extra special day in baseball. F. Gil singled in the 1st, doubled in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off J. Aitcheson in the 5th, grounded out in the 6th and hit an RBI triple in the 8th. This season Gil is hitting at a .308 pace with 2 home runs, 33 RBIs and has scored 24 times. |
