 | Sunday, May 18th, 2014: 5 Hits for Bluesmen Hopkins It was high-5 day at Ballpark of Cuba, at least for Dale Hopkins of the Cuba Bluesmen. He got a lot of high-5's from his teammates for his outstanding hitting against the Congo Drums. Hopkins smashed 5 hits in 6 at-bats on his record-setting day, leading his club to a 17-7 win. His manager said, "Dale was hitting everything. It really was a special game for him." In the other dugout the opposing manager told BNN beat writers, "He ambushed my boys today. Obviously we didn't have much success against him, but luckily, tomorrow is another day. Hopefully it will be our day to shine." D. Hopkins singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, flied out in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off H. González in the 4th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th. In 2014 Hopkins has produced 55 hits in 181 at-bats for a .304 average with 4 home runs and gotten on base at a .340 clip. |
