The Madison third baseman had a field day in the 12-10 triumph over the Kingston Rastamen, finishing with a 5-6 day and a spot in the league record book. "My hitting philosophy is pretty simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch." Well, Gomes must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too. It was one of his best days ever with the bat. G. Gomes singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and singled in the 8th. In the 2014 season Gomes is batting .360 with 31 hits and 2 home runs. He has scored 13 times and batted in 11. |
