GUBA Double A News Article | | | Wednesday, April 16th, 2014: Holcomb Gets 6 Hits Players get multi-hit games all the time. But a 5-hit game only comes around once in a blue moon. It happened at Wolves Ballpark when Ron Holcomb of Madison scattered 6 hits all over the ballpark against the Atlantic City Gamblers.
He was down and a little subdued with mixed feelings in the postgame interview. "It was a good day for me, but not a good day for the Wolves. The bottom line in baseball is to win. We didn't do it today," he told the press after the game.
He walloped 6 hits in 6 at-bats in his career day performance, but it was the Gamblers, who won the ballgame 7-6.
However, the left fielder of the Wolves did have this to say: "My swing was really, really there today. I made some good, solid contact and when that happens... good things happen. Sure, 6-6 and losing is better than going 0-5 and losing. I'll take 2-4 and a win and be overjoyed. I ain't greedy."
R. Holcomb singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 10th.
During the 2014 season Holcomb has hit .403 with no home runs and 5 RBIs. He has played in 14 games and scored 11 times. | |
