GUBA Double A News Article | |  | Tuesday, September 17th, 2013: Ontario Grabs EL Outstanding Pitcher Award Just a few men in baseball history have won the coveted Outstanding Pitcher Award. José Ontario joined this elite company today when the Eastern League bestowed the honor upon the 27-year-old Halifax starter.
Ontario put up a 15-4 record with a 2.43 ERA. The Captains ace started 24 times, pitched 177.2 innings, fanned 131, walked 45 and held opposing hitters to a .223 average.
The SION Baseball Writers Association will present his trophy to him at the annual gathering this weekend. | |
