Saturday, July 13th, 2013: Vélez Belts 5 Hits!
5 times is a charm -- at least in the world of baseball. When a player gets 5 or more hits in a game, he is honored in the record book. The latest honoree is Arturo Vélez of the Patagonia Giant Sloths.

Today he beat up their pitching to the tune of 5 hits in 5 at-bats, but it was the Shanghai Raiders that salvaged a 6-5 victory at Patagonia Grounds.

"Vélez was a tough out today," the Shanghai manager said to the press in the postgame interview. "He hit some very good pitches with that quick bat of his. Not an easy out, that's for sure. I'm just glad we held everybody else in check and got the win."

Speaking to the SION writers, Vélez added, "It was a real good day for me individually, but not a good one for the team. No loss is a good one."

A. Vélez doubled in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 9th and singled in the 10th.

Thus far in 2013 Vélez is hitting .304 with 3 home runs, 24 RBIs, 18 runs scored and has compiled a .398 OBP.
