GUBA Double A News Article | | | Tuesday, May 14th, 2013: Barron Hits for the Cycle "To hit for the cycle" is one of the rarest of feats in a baseball game. This occurs when a player hits a single, double, triple and homerun in the same game, getting every type of hit possible.
Shayne Barron grabbed a piece of baseball history today when he hit for the cycle. Barron went 4 for 4 with 2 runs batted in and 3 runs scored against Niigata, leading the Cuba Bluesmen to a 13-9 win at Ballpark of Cuba.
"I felt comfortable at the plate in a way I haven't felt all season," Barron said after the game. "It was like they were throwing beach balls at me. The ball seemed that big to me. And it just floated in."
S. Barron singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off J. Unknown in the 6th, tripled in the 8th and walked in the 9th.
Barron is hitting .342 this year with 1 home runs and 18 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .394, 11 walks and scored 24 times. | |
