 | Wednesday, September 18th, 2013: WL's Premier Hitter for 2013 Named Félix González, the gifted Perth first baseman, really got the attention of the Western League pitchers this past season. He battered them for 169 hits in 511 at-bats, 28 doubles, 1 triple, 19 home runs, 72 RBIs and scored 72 times.
That kind of hitting earned him the Western League Outstanding Hitter Award for 2013.
González will get his trophy at the SBWA awards banquet this weekend. |  | Wednesday, September 18th, 2013: Eastern League Names #1 Hitter The top batter in the Eastern League in 2013 was Seattle first baseman Tomomi Kikuchi. For his standout play, he was voted the Outstanding Hitter Award.
Kikuchi starred this season with a .335 batting average, 143 hits, 34 home runs, 106 RBIs, .393 OBP and 72 runs scored.
This weekend the SBWA will host its annual awards dinner, and all of the major winners will be there to receive their trophies for their outstanding achievements this past season. |  | Tuesday, September 17th, 2013: King of the Hill Announced by Western League The 2013 Western League Outstanding Pitcher Award has gone to Perth Brawlers ace Marek Myszka after a stellar 16-4 season.
In 25 starts he notched 183.2 innings, 128 strikeouts and a 2.30 ERA. Myszka held opposing hitters to a .221 batting average, walking 40.
The SION Baseball Writers Association will present his trophy to him at the annual gathering this weekend. | |
