"It's a shame we didn't win. It would have been a very special day if that had happened. But it didn't. At least my batting average didn't take a plunge, too," he said. The Throwing Stars were beaten 14-8 at Yokoham Grounds by the Spartans. "In every one of his at-bats, things were in his favor... he got hitter's counts," the skipper of the Spartans said to the press corps after the game. Gonzáles agreed. "The key is getting ahead. Once you get ahead, it makes it a lot easier because you get a better pitch to hit. You know the pitcher has to come in with it. And you're ready." E. Gonzáles singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and hit a solo-shot off J. Benbow in the 9th. So far this year Gonzáles is hitting .571 with 2 home runs. |
