 | Sunday, June 1st, 2014: Cape Town Starter Named WL's #1 Pitcher There's something about a young rookie winning the Western League Pitcher of the Month trophy that sends shock waves through the league. Such is the case with Juan Rodríguez, a 27-year-old starter for the Cape Town Rebels. In May, he topped off the month with a 5-0 mark and 1.79 ERA in 6 starts, tossed 45.1 innings, fanned 40 and held opposing teams to a .250 average. In the 2014 season Rodríguez has recorded a 9-1 mark. In 12 starts he has fanned 68 batters in 90 innings with a 1.90 ERA. |
