GUBA Triple A News Article | | | Tuesday, May 14th, 2013: Rivera Belts Bunch of Base Hits On top of the Caracas hit parade today was Jesús Rivera. He went to the plate 5 times and marched away with 5 hits, sparking the Roughnecks to a 9-1 victory over the Burlington Railroaders. He certainly had their number at the plate in this record-making 5-5 performance.
The sweet swinging third baseman told reporters, "Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere. When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats."
The skipper of the Railroaders wailed to the press, "Too much plate. Not the way we planned it. Any hitter in the league will rip you when you do that."
J. Rivera singled in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
This season Rivera is hitting .451 with no home runs. | |
