GUBA Triple A News Article | | | Saturday, May 11th, 2013: 5-5 Day for Jeeps It was a hits blitz for Spencer Jeeps at Stingrays Ballpark. The Maui Stingrays first baseman tore into Nashville for 5 hits in 5 at-bats to pace Stingrays to a 14-3 victory and wrote his name into the baseball record book.
The manager for the Sounds bemoaned his pitching, saying, "We fell behind and weren't locating well. Once you get behind in the count, you have to make real good pitches, rather than good pitches, and we weren't able to do that today." He added, "Not to take anything away from Jeeps, but bad location was the story of the ballgame. That's why we lost the game."
S. Jeeps singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off N. Ine in the 7th, walked in the 8th and hit a three-run double in the 9th.
So far in 2013 Jeeps is hitting .340 with 6 home runs, 32 RBIs and 28 runs scored. He has 48 hits and played in 37 games. | |
