Pedro Salas of the St. Paul Swing was firing on all cylinders against the Phoenix Talons. He blanked them 5-0 on 1 hit and posted 10 strikeouts and no walks.
This season to date, Salas has fashioned a 12-7 mark and 3.36 ERA in 155.1 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .242 against him and he has logged 107 strikeouts. |
 | Thursday, August 8th, 2013: Poulin 5-5 Against Llamas
Marc-Olivier Poulin exploded for a barrage of base hits today at Port-au-Prince Fields. The Port-au-Prince first baseman had a field day in the 13-6 triumph over the New Delhi Llamas, finishing up with a 5-5 day and a spot in the league record book.
"My hitting philosophy is pretty simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch."
Well, Poulin must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too. It was one of his best days ever with the bat.
M. Poulin hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off L. Chávez in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off H. Mitchell in the 8th.
This season in 62 games Poulin is batting .244 with 5 home runs, 20 RBIs and has scored 9 times. |
 | Wednesday, August 7th, 2013: Kobayashi Injured, Day-to-Day
Knights star reliever Norihisa Kobayashi may be sitting it out a few days after he picked up an injury in yesterday's game against the Philadelphia Freedoms. He sustained a finger blister while throwing a pitch. Kobayashi isn't expected to miss a lot of time. However, doctors want to be cautious. They said he would be day-to-day for about 2 weeks.
This season Kobayashi has chalked up a 2.10 ERA while ringing up no saves with no wins and 4 losses. He has made no relief appearances, pitching 81.1 innings, giving up 61 hits and holding opponents to a .199 batting average. Kobayashi has also recorded 62 strikeouts and allowed 33 walks. |
