 | Thursday, August 2nd, 2012: Super Swinger! Ibarbia Slams 5 Hits! Pedro Ibarbia got the glory and the headlines today, while the Johannesburg Diamonds got the win. The Havana center fielder easily handled Diamonds pitching, going 5 for 6, but the Perfectos came out on the short end of the score 7-6. He told SION reporters in the postgame interview, "I'm glad I got the hits, but I would trade three or four of 'em for a win...maybe even all 5 of 'em." The Perfectos skipper added, "Well, it's a shame we didn't get the victory today, especially with his standout performance. Let's just hope our team can do better tomorrow." P. Ibarbia singled in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, doubled in the 8th and grounded out in the 10th. Ibarbia is presently hitting at a .320 pace with 7 home runs and 39 RBIs. He has played in 101 games and scored 59 times. |
