 | Friday, June 29th, 2012: Vargas on Rampage Against Surfers! Who needs batting practice? Pedro Vargas of California apparently doesn't as he battered Long Beach with a 5-hit outburst in today's game to lead his club to a 9-6 win. He told the press after the game, "And I didn't even take BP today. I think I have been taking too many swings before game and decided to take a day off. Wow, this was really something... a 5 for 6 day... will my name be in the record books now?" P. Vargas doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 6th, flied out in the 8th, singled in the 9th and hit a two-run home run off M. Jackson in the 11th. This season Vargas has hit at a .286 clip with 27 RBIs, 5 home runs and 45 runs scored. |
