 | Sluggers Chill Boyd's Hot Streak Friday, October 1st, 2021: Birmingham catcher Christopher Boyd came into today's game against the Louisville Sluggers on a hot streak. When it was over, the Sluggers did their job very well. They beat the Birmingham Bandits 14-2 and cooled him off at the same time. Louisville stopped Boyd without a hit and his 29-game hitting streak came to an end.
The 27-year-old Boyd only had a few words to say after the game, "I had a chance to do it and I came up short."
His manager commented, "What Christopher did was exciting and quite an achievement. It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 29 games in a row. I'm really proud of him. And I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."
This season Boyd has hit at a .343 clip and produced 49 RBI, 5 home runs and 58 runs. | |
