Global Unified Baseball Association News Article | | | Thursday, July 25th, 2013: 5-Hit Game for Garland! On top of the Pago Pago hit parade today was Justin Garland. He went to the plate 5 times and marched away with 5 hits, sparking the Coconuts to a 14-4 victory over the Manila Volcanoes. He certainly had their number at the plate in this record-making 5-5 performance.
The sweet swinging second baseman told reporters, "Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere. When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats."
The skipper of the Volcanoes wailed to the press, "Too much plate. Not the way we planned it. Any hitter in the league will rip you when you do that."
J. Garland singled in the 1st, tripled in the 3rd, walked in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, hit an RBI double in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Z. Ngui in the 9th.
In his season totals Garland has 1 home run and a .269 batting average. | |
