Thursday, July 25th, 2013: Garland Swings for the Cycle
The big buzz in the baseball world is about Justin Garland's performance today at Pago Pago Grounds against Manila. Garland had 5 hits en route to hitting for the cycle, leading the charge for the Pago Pago 14-4 triumph over the Volcanoes.

A cycle requires a game of no fewer than four hits and a home run and a triple. A batter has to have power, speed and a little luck to do it.

"It was one of those games you dream about," Garland told the press. "I never expected to do something like this when I showed up at the park today. All you really want to do is hit it hard and put it into play. The hits will come."

And the hits did come today. The 26-year-old second baseman rounded out his superb batting display with 5 hits in 5 at-bats, 2 runs batted in and 5 runs scored.

J. Garland singled in the 1st, tripled in the 3rd, walked in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, hit an RBI double in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Z. Ngui in the 9th.

In 30 games this year Garland has posted a .269 average and put up these numbers: 1 home run, 11 RBIs and 17 runs scored.
