Friday, July 12th, 2013: Wells 5-5 for Manhattan
It's not something you read in the sports pages everyday -- a 5-for-5 day. It may only come around once in a career -- a lot of players never have one -- but Javier Wells got one today. He scattered hits all over Myst Ballpark to pace Manhattan to a 12-0 victory over Valencia.

The Valencia skipper told reporters in the press room, "Tip your hat to him. He hit some good pitches. According to the scouting report, Wells hit several that he is not supposed to hit."

J. Wells hit a two-run double in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off J. Gonzáles in the 8th.

Thus far this season in 86 games Wells is batting .259 with 17 home runs, 51 RBIs and 55 runs scored. He has 85 hits in 328 at-bats.
