General managers should ensure that they have made all necessary roster moves prior to the start of the draft!
Rule 5 Draft Rules
--Only teams with empty slots on their expanded rosters can select a player in the draft.
--Players with more than 3 are eligible to be selected, unless they are protected on a team's expanded roster.
--Players drafted at the age of 18 or younger are protected for one additional year. They are eligible if they have more than 4 years of professional service.
--Each selected player must be kept on the selecting team's major league roster for the entire year, or be returned to his original team.
--Even if a selected player is subsequently traded, he must remain on that team's major league roster for the entire year.

Officials declined to specify a salary publicly, but in private say the figure is $5,540,000 per year.
Valdés's won-lost record is 54 wins and 71 losses with a 3.57 ERA and opposing hitters have compiled a .249 average against him. |  | Tuesday, November 27th, 2012: Reyes Comes to Terms with Coconuts Sportswriters and pundits hailed Pago Pago's signing of Juan Reyes, one of Global Unified Baseball Association's brightest stars, as a pivotal move.
While the deal is certain to raise a few eyebrows, Reyes is expected to earn every bit of the $1,320,000 promised him over 1 year.
